Coffee maker from mortar shells

There are lots of variations of coffeemakers – from high-end, beautiful and shiny stainless steel espresso machines to cheap plastic Mr. Coffee knock-offs. Here’s a unique type of coffee maker. Azmeraw Zeleke of northern Ethiopia uses old mortar shells, which stand about one metre high, to make his coffee machines.

The finished product looks just like what you would expect from your favourite cafe.
